It is passed time to end the mass incarceration epidemic. Discriminatory practices at every part of our carceral system make for a criminal legal system that disproportionally targets Black, Indigenous, and Brown people instead of offering the resources and opportunities truly necessary for community safety. Join us for the second installation of four in our annual town hall series, “Liberty in Motion: Our Watershed Moment” to learn about the policies that will ensure all New Yorkers are treated equitably and to learn what you can do to help interrupt the endless cycle of punishment, instead promoting rehabilitation. Topics will include sentencing reform, parole justice, and supporting justice impacted mothers and children in Nassau County.
“Liberty in Motion: Our Watershed Moment” is a four-part Town Hall Series centering conversation on the action we can take to protect and promote equity in our own communities faced with unprecedented threats. Throughout the series, Arlo Fleischer, Organizer of the Nassau County New York Civil Liberties Union will facilitate local and statewide advocacy and policy panelists many of whom have lived experience and are experts in their field. The series is co-hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.
